Bio - David Brodrick
I began playing piano at age 4. I studied Suzuki Piano at the Suzuki Institute of Dallas with Mr. Da Chen. In 2005 I graduated from Southern Methodist Universtiy with a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance, having studied with Dr. Alfred Mouledous.
I have been teaching piano since 2001. In 2009, I taught piano in Germany for a year. Since 2010, I have been self-employed, teaching full time in the Austin area.
I have experience playing piano at churches, weddings, restaurants, and hotels. In 2007 and in 2011 I was the in-house pianist for Glacier National Park at the Many Glacier Hotel. I played piano for Tree of Life Church in Pflugerville, Texas on a volunteer basis for 5 years. From 2014-2015, I was the music teacher / pianist for the International House of Children Montessori School in Austin, Texas. I am currently the pianist for Hillcrest Baptist Church, and work with the choir.
In 2018, my music studio relocated to Spicewood, Texas. I currently teach 23 students.
My primary teaching method is Suzuki. This is a perfect approach for young children, because they learn music the same way they learn to speak - hearing and repeating. I also incorporate note reading at the age of 4 - 5. Learning with the Suzuki Method gives students the correct foundation to be able to play Classical music with high artistry, technique, and musicality.
I am also experienced in teaching chord-based piano, which is perfect for those interested in learning more contemporary and popular styles, including contemporary worship music.
